Brooklyn 6G Summit FR3 Channel Modeling Demo
In an interview at the 11th Brooklyn 6G Summit at NYU Tandon, Theodore S. “Ted” Rappaport, David Lee/Ernst Weber Professor of Electrical Engineering and founding director of NYU WIRELESS, highlighted the gathering of 250 global telecom and AI leaders exploring next-generation wireless technology. Rappaport showcased NYU WIRELESS' groundbreaking research on FR3 band (6-17 GHz) propagation and discussed a new "waste factor" metric for network energy efficiency. "It's really the most exciting new frequency band coming to wireless since millimeter wave in the last generation," Rappaport emphasized while demonstrating their wideband channel sounder system.
