With innovative turbine-blade monitoring system, NYU Tandon researcher partners with DTU Wind Energy
Four research groups, [including NYU Tandon] and DTU Wind Energy will collaborate in order to formulate the optimal strategy for the structural health monitoring, maintenance and repair of wind turbine blades. … The NYU group, led by Nikhil Gupta, professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering, created an innovative system comprising fiber-optic sensors and composite materials to help in detecting fractures and other damage to wind turbine blades. Their work resulted in the development of a new patented sensor design.
