New DOT report questions daylighting as council bill gains steam


The administration of New York City Mayor Eric Adams released a controversial report arguing against universal daylighting — the practice of banning parking at corners for better visibility and safety. The DOT's study, which found higher injury rates at daylighted intersections, was criticized for flawed methodology and timing, as it coincides with a Council bill pushing for universal daylighting. As CUSP Faculty Fellow Marcel Moran noted: "No city has improved pedestrian infrastructure by blocking visibility at intersections."
