NYU researchers create virtual ‘twin’ of Downtown Brooklyn to improve emergency response times

Researchers from C2SMARTER - NYU Tandon’s U.S. Department of Transportation-funded Tier 1 University Transportation Center – are developing a virtual "twin" of Downtown Brooklyn to help emergency responders handle accidents and traffic disruptions more effectively. The NanoDT project, funded by NVIDIA, will create a real-time 3D replica using existing traffic cameras and public data feeds. "In urban emergencies, where every second counts, NanoDT's real-time 3D visualization will transform traditional response methods into dynamic, data-driven decisions," said Professor Kaan Ozbay, director of C2SMARTER who leads the project with researcher Zilin Bian.
