Professor Siddharth Garg informed representatives from Cheddar’s news service about the recent “hardware hack” on Apple and Amazon. The attack, he explained, was the result of a tiny chip embedded into products being shipped out of China. Apple and Amazon have both denied the allegation that any consumer data has been stolen due to this compromising incident. Professor Garg cautioned, however, that the chip was visible with the naked eye, and technological businesses with global supply chains should pay greater attention to hardware security in order to prevent any future disasters.
