A career in data science offers strong earning potential and exceptional job growth. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics from 2023, the median annual salary for data scientists is $108,020, with a 36% job growth rate—significantly faster than the average for all occupations.

Salaries vary widely based on location, industry, and experience. As of March 2025, the average base salary for a data scientist in New York City is $128,734 (Indeed).
