Hanxue Wei joined the Center for Urban Science and Progress at NYU in 2025. Her research is at the intersection of urban built environment, public health, and social equity. Her work provides data-driven solutions for urban planning and public health challenges in the context of climate change, leveraging spatial data and statistical analyses. She has published in leading urban studies journals, such as Landscape and Urban Planning and Environment and Planning B: Urban Analytics and City Science, and her work has been covered by multiple media outlets. Hanxue also serves on the Early Career Editorial Board for the journal Health & Place and the editorial board for the journal Growth and Change: A Journal of Urban and Regional Policy. Previously, Hanxue was a Postdoctoral Fellow at NYU Grossman School of Medicine. She obtained her Ph.D. in Regional Science from Cornell University, M.S. in Urban Design from Georgia Tech, and M.E. and B.E. in Urban Planning from Tongji University.
