Christian Carter

Christian’s laboratory safety and compliance experience spans over 17 years of working with industry professionals, contractors, executives, administrators, staff, and students. During her years throughout various industry laboratory environments, her responsibilities consisted of lab management, safety committee representation, hazardous waste quality control management, engineering unit operations, analytical instrumentation and repairs, and lab safety and compliance oversight of teaching and research lab spaces. Her ability to optimize operational procedures while implementing NYU's safety policies has been a great asset to Tandon. Christian brings a wealth of regulatory knowledge and experience on the local, state, and federal compliance levels. Her ability to collaborate cross-functionally with varying levels of management to implement, assess, and improve safety strategies and procedures will prove to be of utmost importance to achieve Tandon’s long term research goals.

Christian provides leadership and support to Tandon’s research and teaching operations by promoting and supporting a comprehensive laboratory safety program while also having several key responsibilities. She serves as Tandon's Designated Safety Coordinator (DSC) to assist with safety training, compliance, emergencies, inspections, and updates for all labs, shops, and specialty core facility operations. Christian is a member of NYU's Radiation Safety Committee while also OSHA HazWoper Certified to ensure the safe work practices of all experimental and experiential learning activities across campuses are OSHA compliant. She is also the Tandon FDNY Designated Coordinated (DC) assisting all those required to obtain a C-14 Certificate of Fitness.  Her main priority is to work closely with all engineering departments, NYU’s Central management departments, and members of the Dean's office to effectively improve and ensure adherence to all safety and compliance policies.
